Amigos de Milord

Rupert Shaldrake

My father-in-law had a small farm, and on it he had a guard dog, Sultán. One day my father-in-law fell ill and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. A few days later he died and was buried in the local cemetery, about five kilometers from the farm. Several weeks after the burial, the dog disappeared for days. This seemed odd, since he never got lost. But we didn't pay much attention to the matter until one Sunday an ex employee who lived near the cemetery came to see us and said:

"Imagine, my surprise the other day, when I walked through the cemetery, and I saw Sultán lying on top of the family grave".

I can't imagine how he was able to find his way there at a distance of five kilometers. There were no tracks left by his ex master for him to follow. And he had never taken him to the cemetery, not even out to the country, because he had to guard the house. How is it possible that he found his master's grave?
