I have a female sheepdog from Beance, Yssa, who is two years old and who at three months old came to France with me from the isle of Réunion in the Indian Ocean, 10,000 kilometers away. She left behind her mother, Zoubida, who was ten years old. On February 13 of that year, Yssa was sleeping in my son's bedroom. At around three o'clock in the morning she came and scratched at my door, whimpering, crying and very excited. She did not want to go out. At nine o'clock in the morning, my brother-in-law called telephoned from Réunion. The caretaker at the house had found Zoubida dead. She had been poisoned.
