A Duck With a Sixth Sense.
In the gardens at a park in Freiburg, Germany, they have constructed an immortal stone duck with his bill pointing upward, as a remembrance of a happening that would seem legendary were it not that it is written in the chronicle of recent history. The incident, referenced by Doctor Hans Bender, Director of the Institute of Parapsychology at the University of Freiburg, began the night of November 27, 1944, when a threatening cloud of bombardiers hung over the city.
Moments before, a duck began to quack in a very distressed manner. His noisy quaking served to wake the residents in the neighboring houses, who in turn had sufficient time to take cover in refuges when, moments later, they heard in the sky the threat of military airplanes of the allied forces before they began to bomb the town.
